How does the DT&V deal with unaccompanied minor foreign nationals who are not allowed to stay?

The interests of the child are central. We take their needs and perception into account.

For unaccompanied minor foreign nationals who came to the Netherlands without parents, we have assigned special supervisor departures. We call these children ‘Unaccompanied Minor Foreign Nationals (amv’s in Dutch). Amv’s are extra vulnerable, and therefore require specialised attention.

Amv’s may only return if they have suitable reception in their country of origin. The special supervisor departure contacts the guardian and they discuss the departure process together. Individually tailored repatriation/return processes are possible, depending on the country of origin. Help may consist of reception, study or work assistance, and lodging in the country of destination.
