Repatriation and Departure Service (RD&S) visited EU
On January 19 2015 mrs Maas (general director of the RD&S) and mr Van Genderen (head of the Unit Europe and Projects RD&S) visited several colleagues at the Permanent Representatives of the Netherlands at the European Union and several colleagues at other EU-organisations
With regards to the up-coming EU-presidency of the Netherlands they were anxious to find out about the general opinion in “Brussels” concerning repatriation with regards to other policies.
They also wanted to know about it’s position on the EU-agenda. In these discussions much attention was paid to the up-coming EU-presidency of the Netherlands.
Several meetings had been organized. Among others with mrs Roger, Director Home Affairs at the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union and mr Muschel, Director Migration and Protection of the Directorate–General Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME) of the European Comittee. During this meeting mr Muschel expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the RD&S in Europe and he specially mentioned the European Initiative on Return Management (EURINT) and European Reintegration Network (ERIN) projects in which the project management is in the hands of the RD&S.
During the meeting with mrs Knudsen, director of Human Development and Migration of the Directorate-General International Cooperation and Development (DG DEVCO), the main topic was: ’where do migration and development meet?’
Especially the RD&S projects in the field of reintegration and predeparture were highly valued.
This visit has largely contributed to a good cooperation of the Netherlands and the EU with respect to the repatriation issue. Mrs Maas has expressed that she is looking forward to the future cooperation with the General Secretariat, DG DEVCO and DG HOME.
