On this page, we answer questions about the return support for Syrians. If your question is not answered here, please send an email to infosyrie@dtenv.nl or call 088-0777700 (daily between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.).
Please note: after January 1st there have been minor changes in the text. The English translation is leading.
Terms and conditions
In order to return to Syria with the support of DTenV, the application conditions must be met. If you are unsure whether all your family members meet the conditions, please contact DTenV to discuss the options in your case.
No, your partner is not eligible for this support. You can discuss the options about travelling back together with your partner with a DTenV employee.
You can apply for a replacement travel document. It is up to the Syrian authorities to decide whether to issue you with a replacement travel document. Only in that case can you return with this return support.
The return assistance is intended for Syrians who wish to settle in Syria for the long term. If you return to the Netherlands, the financial contribution may be reclaimed.
Contact and support
You can ask your questions by telephone on 088-0777700 (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or by email at infosyrie@dtenv.nl.
This is not necessary for everyone, but it is certainly possible. We prefer to meet in person with unaccompanied minors, unaccompanied women and Syrians who wish to return with their families. We also like to meet in person with people who need (medical) support for their flight.
Yes, it is no problem to bring someone with you to an appointment or a walk-in meeting at an asylum seekers' centre.
You can also apply via Solid Road. DTenV processes the applications and arranges the actual departure.
No, IOM will refer you to DTenV for departure. However, you can contact IOM for any general questions about Syria or return.
Registration
You can register using the registration form on the DTenV website. DTenV will then contact you about the further procedure.
This number is on your residence permit or your W document. Your BSN can also help you find your V number. Please contact us if you need help with this.
You will receive confirmation that your application has been received. DTenV will then inform you as soon as possible about the next steps and what you can expect. The processing time for your application depends on the number of applications received by DTenV.
Travel documents
If you do not have a valid or expired passport, you are responsible for obtaining a replacement travel document yourself. You can make an appointment at the Syrian embassy via the 'Mofa Sy' app (make sure you have your national identity number).
DTenV cannot give you a definite answer to this question. Submitting your application and making an appointment at the Syrian embassy via the "Mofa Sy" app as soon as possible will certainly help. Please note that the Syrian embassy is very busy and you may have to wait for a temporary travel document to be issued.
Once all your details have been checked, DTenV can book a flight for you. The timeframe depends on travel options (ticket availability) and whether you wish to return as a family, a single woman or a single minor. In the latter case, we would like to discuss this with you first.
Date of departure
At this moment, it is not yet possible to say when you can leave. This depends on the available travel documents and the number of registrations. After your registration, you will receive confirmation. DTenV will then contact you as soon as possible to inform you about the procedure and the time of return. We cannot say exactly when this will be.
No, that is not possible. You will be informed of your departure date at least two weeks before departure.
No, we cannot take personal preferences into account. DTenV is dependent on the available travel options. To date, this has been via Amman or Doha.
This depends on the number of registrations and the speed with which DTenV can process the registrations and book flights. DTenV is not expected to deploy any charters in the first few months and the available scheduled flights will suffice.
Arrangements before departure
If you rent your home, you must contact the housing association/municipality yourself. As a Syrian, you must also deregister with the municipalities where you live. The method of deregistration may vary from one local authority to another. Deregistration will also have consequences for any benefits, allowances and other financial matters. Your residence permit will also be withdrawn by the IND.
